Where a faded photograph needs correcting, a damaged one needs rebuilding. This service restores old damaged photos: torn prints, missing corners, water staining, mould spotting and the cracking that comes from being folded. Upload your own scan of whatever survives, tell us what the picture should look like, and we work from that.

How different damage is handled

1. Tears and creases. Rebuilt using the grain either side, so the join does not read as a smooth line.
2. Missing corners and edges. Reconstructed from the surrounding image where there is enough to work from.
3. Water marks and mould. Removed tone by tone, which is slow, and the slowest part of most jobs.
4. Missing faces. Rebuilt only where another photograph of the same person can be referenced.

What can and cannot be brought back

If the detail was ever on the print, it can usually be recovered. If a face has been torn away entirely, it is a reconstruction rather than a restoration, and we will say so before starting. Damage across a background is nearly always fixable. Damage across a face is the honest limit.

Why the timeline moves

Three to five business days is the normal window, and heavy damage takes longer, because the work is done by hand and by eye. A print with one tear is quick. Enhance against replacement of the background

Where it is beyond enhance a background change or replacement is done instead, on request and at additional cost. For a photograph whose only problem is colour drift, our colour to colour restoration is the cheaper route.

Printing and storage

The rebuilt image is printed high-resolution on photo paper. Sizes run 12×15, 12×18, 16×20, 20×24, 20×30, 24×36 and 36×48 inches, glossy as standard and matte on request, with a 1 inch brown synthetic frame optional. My photo is torn in half. Can it be fixed?

Usually yes, if both halves survive. Scan them together, flat, without overlapping them.

Can a missing face be rebuilt?

Only with another photograph of that person to work from.

How long will it take to delivery?
