How a heart shape crops a photograph

A heart is widest across the middle and narrows to a point. Anything near the bottom corners of a rectangular picture is lost, and anything at the very top is too. Choose a photograph where the faces sit in the middle, not off to one side.

Red reads as Valentine’s Day from across a room without a word printed on it. That is exactly what you want in February and less so in a living room the rest of the year. If it needs to sit on a sofa permanently, a softer colour ages better.

Printing a message beside the photo

Short works. A name, a date, or three or four words. On a heart the usable space around the picture is narrower than it looks, so a long line ends up printed small and gets read by nobody.

Washing it

Processing takes one to two working days before dispatch, and February is the busiest week of the year for these. Order early rather than late. A quicker, smaller option is our Valentine fridge photo magnets. Photographs you send are deleted from our system the moment the parcel is dispatched.
