Picking a size off the ladder

Small jars and lids usually land at 1.5 or 2 inches. Cosmetic tubs and candle tins sit around 2.5 to 3. Boxes, pouches and shipping cartons take 4 inches and up. Measure the flat face first, then drop one step down so the label is not touching the edges. A longer face is easier with the rectangle label sticker.

Square against rectangle

A square gives equal weight to a logo and reads as a stamp. A rectangle gives you more lines of text at the same width. If your label is mostly wording rather than mostly mark, the rectangle is the easier shape to fill well.

What the material changes

Glossy lifts colour. Silver and PVC gold give a metallic ground. High bond holds on surfaces that resist adhesive. Removable comes away without significant residue. The PVC white square label is the fully opaque one, and it hides whatever is underneath.

Where the label goes matters too

These stick to glass, plastic, metal, card and other smooth surfaces, but never to clothing or fabric. Curved surfaces limit how wide a square can go before the corners lift, which is worth testing before ordering a full run.
