Why letterheads are printed on one side
Deliberately. A letterhead has to go back through an office printer, take a signature and hold a rubber stamp, and printing on the reverse compromises all three. The blank side is not an omission, it is the point of the product.

Designing round the empty middle
A letterhead is mostly blank by design. Keep the header shallow, keep the footer to one line, and leave the whole centre clear, because that is where the letter goes. A heavy watermark behind body text makes a document harder to read and harder to photocopy.
What moves the cost
Quantity first, then paper. Executive Bond costs more per sheet than TNPL, and on a run of five thousand that difference is larger than anything else on the order. How many to print at once
Enough for a year, and no more. A letterhead carries a phone number, an address and often a GST number, and any one of those can change. Ten thousand sheets with an old address on them is a more expensive mistake than a slightly higher unit price on a smaller run.
Proof it before the run
